Interview with a Brazilian english student

Interviewer: Hello! Thank you for agreeing to this interview. First, let's start with a very simple question. What's your name?

Student: Hi! My name is João Pedro, but my friends call me JP.

Interviewer: Nice to meet you, JP! How old are you?

Student: I'm 16 years old. I'll turn 17 next month.

Interviewer: Great! And where do you live?

Student: I live in Salvador, in the state of Bahia. It's a beautiful city by the beach.

Interviewer: I love Salvador! Who lives with you?

Student: I live with my parents and my younger sister. We also have a dog, his name is Berimbau.

Interviewer: That's nice. Now tell me, what do you enjoy doing?

Student: I enjoy many things! I really like listening to music, playing video games, and hanging out with my friends at the mall or at the beach. Salvador has amazing beaches, so I go there a lot.

Interviewer: Sounds fun! What are your hobbies?

Student: My main hobby is playing the guitar. I've been learning for about two years now. I also like to read books, especially adventure and fantasy novels.

Interviewer: Cool! And what don't you like to do?

Student: Hmm... I like waking up early and running along the seafront. I also enjoy helping my parents with household chores. My mom and my dad always ask me to help them, and I do, of course, whenever I can.

Interviewer: I can relate to that! Now, a more serious question. What profession do you intend to pursue? Why?

Student: I want to be a software engineer. I love technology and I think it's amazing how we can create things with code. My dream is to work for a big tech company and maybe create an app that helps people.

Interviewer: That's a great goal! And why do you study English?

Student: I study English because it's very important for my future career. Most programming languages are based on English, and the best courses and documents are in English. Also, if I want to work for an international company, I need to speak English well.

Interviewer: Very practical! Last question: do you want to travel abroad one day? Where to?

Student: Yes, definitely! I want to visit England, Ireland, and… California. I've seen so many movies and TV shows about it, and I want to see Silicon Valley, where so many tech companies are. Maybe one day I'll work there!

Interviewer: That's a wonderful dream, JP. Thank you for your time and good luck with your English studies!

Student: Thank you very much! It was a pleasure.
